Fifth day - 4th of July!

As we went to bed so early the previous day (6pm), we woke up early (6am), yes, we slept 12 hours! We had a nice breakfast of eggs and toasts with salami.

We went early to venice pier. We left the car and hired a couple of bikes! Edina got a basket on hers, where we put the bags and jumpers, and we started cycling... It was wonderful, we passed santa monica pier and got into a nice area with very expensive houses next to the beach. We spent around 1h to go and 1h to come back!

As we were coming back, we saw a few police cars and firefighters full of american flags, getting ready for some parade. We also some another parade with classic american cars. We took a few pics..

We came back, left the bikes, and went to have a drink. Then we went bacm along venice beach, but this time walking. In muscle beach there was a bodybuilding competition, and of course we sat there to have a look..

Then we spend two hours walking around, there was plenty of people, you could feel the 4th of july atmosphere..

We came back home for lunch, one of the american pizzas, and chilled out on the garden for a couple of hours. That morning we had spent quite some time finding out where to go for the 4th of july fireworks, and we decided to go Pasadena to the Rose Bowl where there was a huge picnic outside, and the americafest inside the stadium.

We left around 5pm, the drive to Pasadena is beautiful, plenty of nice trees and vegetation, it was like driving through a botanic car! We arrived and found thousands of people with barbacues, picnics, etc. all over the place! We didn't bring anything so we got a couple of italian sausage hot dogs and waited for the stadium opening..

The doors opened and we went in..

There were quite a few music bands from different parts of the country, performing for us. Then just after 9pm, the fireworks started!

Coming back there was a lot of traffic. By the way, this was the first time we got into a motorway (as americans call it "highway").

We arrived at around 11pm and just 2 hours after that I had a work conf call, so I barely slept 1h 50 min! Then I had another one at 5am!
